On 2008 - 2010 models you need to remove the coax in the RF output in the back of the Freeview box. This needs to be plugged into the second aerial output on the Status booster. The 2011 models are wired directly from the Status booster so no modification is needed.

If I fit air ride suspension to my vehicle will it increase my payload?

Air ride will not increase your payload, in fact it will reduce it, as the air bags have their own weight. It will give you the ability to alter the ride height of the rear of your vehicle. This can be a benefit when boarding ferries and will also help to stiffen the rear suspension helping to reduce body roll.

I want to carry a scooter on a tow bar mounted rack, will I have enough payload to do this?

This is dependent on how you load your vehicle before a journey. We advise that you load your vehicle with the usual equipment you travel with, including passengers.

The vehicle should then be weighed at a reputable public weighbridge. Take this weight from the gross vehicle weight, to determine the amount you have left. Please remember that the weight of the rack needs to be taken into account and due to the overhang the scooter will add considerably more weight to the rear axle than its true weight.

If I add the capacity of my vehicles’ axles, it is higher than is quoted as GVW, why?

All vehicles have a safety margin, however, to allow flexibility of use the load can be apportioned across the axles. It is important that the vehicle is never loaded beyond its’ GVW.

Why is the GTW (Gross train weight) different from one vehicle to another?

The GTW is dependent on a number of factors including drive train / braking capacity, type of chassis and length of rear chassis extension. The shorter the rear extension usually transpires into a higher GTW, as the lateral “g” forces that are transferred to the base chassis are reduced. Please refer to the Auto-trail brochure or this web site for the GTW applicable to your vehicle including the maximum trailer weight that can be towed.

What is the maximum weight allowed for persons using the over cab bed (if fitted)?

Obviously, also dump any water that is stored in the fresh and waste water tanks. For vehicles with Webasto heating, please consult your owners’ manual.

Unlike domestic double glazed windows that are vacuum sealed, Motorhome windows are not. As a result in certain climatic conditions condensation may appear between the Acrylic panes of the double glazed windows. This should dissipate after a period of time or as the ambient conditions change.

Pleated blinds when a vehicle is in storage.

If you plan to store your vehicle for a period of time, please ensure that you leave your vehicles window blinds in the open position. After a period of time, it is possible for the window blind material to obtain a “memory” and this may affect the smooth operation of the unit.

It is possible to walk on the central area of the roof of your vehicle. Do not walk near the edge or near the front section which is not supported. Never walk on the roof in wet or windy conditions. How do I charge my vehicle battery whilst on site?

The vehicles battery can be charged when plugged into 220V on site, by selecting the vehicle battery on the control panel. Ensure that your charging unit is switched on and that once the desired vehicle battery level has been achieved, that you switch back to the leisure battery. Failing to do this may damage the engine battery as they are not designed to generate small amounts of power over long periods of time.

What is the best method of cleaning my carpets?

I have noticed that the galvanised coating on my chassis is changing colour.

If galvanised items are stored in damp or wet conditions, where there is little or no air movement then the zinc will continue to react with the moisture that is present.  In so doing the zinc will produce excessive amounts of zinc hydroxide.  This is seen as a bulky white deposit on the surface  of the galvanising. The surface finish may also start to turn dull. The white powder can be washed off if desired. This does not affect the integrity of the chassis.
