Health, safety & welfare notice
Safety on the shop floor
We do make every effort to maintain a clear & tidy factory but please be aware that it is a working
environment and wear sensible footwear, i.e. please no open top shoes or sandals. Please stay to the
blue walk ways unless directed by your tour guide.
We must advise that you will be either walking or standing during our 2½ hour tour and no seating is
available. For safety reasons, we must ask that visitors are steady on their feet. Walking sticks
may be used but unfortunately we are not able to accommodate walking frames, wheelchairs or
motorised scooters on the factory floor due to the nature of a working production environment.
However, if you do have concerns regarding your mobility, we do hold an annual open day for the
Auto-Trail Owners’ Club which may be of interest. If you are an existing Auto-Trail owner please
contact them at www.atocuk.com for more information. If you are
a potential Auto-Trail owner, please
contact the ladies on our main reception, who will be happy to make arrangements to welcome you at
the factory at the same time as the Auto-Trail Owners Club.
We have a number of overhead cranes on site, please do not walk under or near items being moved.
Please remain with your tour guide at all times and do not touch any of the equipment.
We currently have only a limited number of spaces for visitors’ cars; to avoid any confusion, may we
ask that you please park on the road side and make your way to reception. We have three disabled
parking spaces directly to the left of the main entrance.
Children under the age of 16
To comply with Health and Safety regulations, we are unable to allow children under the age of 16 to
visit our manufacturing site.
The fire alarm is tested every Friday at 12 noon and emits a very distinct continuous sound. If the
fire alarm sounds at another time please follow your guide to the first available exit & go to
Assembly Point No. 4, which is the post closest to the car park entrance.
In the event that anyone requires First Aid assistance during the tour we have a number of qualified

allowed and therefore the use of all camera equipment, including mobile telephones and camcorders is

of a sensitive nature.
The reception is located on the first corner of the building opposite the car park entrance and is
Toilets (including facilities for the less able visitors) are located within the building close to
reception area. Our receptionists will direct people accordingly.
On arrival at the reception, you will be asked to ‘sign in’ our visitor’s book, issued a visitor’s
badge, given a pair of ear defenders and loaned a pair of safety glasses; these are compulsory wear
the shop floor. On returning to our main reception at the end of the tour, again please ‘sign out’
our visitor’s book and return your safety glasses and the visitor’s badge.
This is predominantly a no smoking site, although there is a small smoke shelter on site,
unfortunately it is not positioned in an area where visitors are allowed unaccompanied. Therefore,
we ask that visitors refrain from smoking until they have left our site.
Finally, please understand you are entering a working environment and there will be mastics, solvents
and sharp items around the plant; please pay due care and attention at all times.
